with a cable

the tape player has a microphone on it that’s why you use it

when we weren’t recording with a tape player we first recorded with a laptop mic (like the macbook pro one)

and then later with other microphones that cost money and are good

3. we dont make/use tabs for anything & i’m sorry but it’s not hard to figure everything out pretty much, i would recommend just doing that. i can tell you the progressions of any of the songs that are actually chord based though.

but ya if you mean the song, it’s around somewhere (the chords) (there are only 3 chords)

thanks! yeah i grew up lucky getting to know alan (from laurel/cotton candy collective) and working with him sometimes. dude is incredible / all his bands rule. foot ox rules a lot too. i’m glad you dig that mix :)

Sorry if this is annoying, but what's the name of the song and artist at 4 minutes in on the teen suicide guest mix for odd castles? It's so god damn good. uhhhh hopefully not crazy? i mean what’s your definition of crazy? i’m hoping people dance some & stuff but i dont want it to be “crazy” we don’t play like hardcore or punk shows nor do we want to - well, we dont with julia brown.

teen suicide shows were more suited to that definitely but pop shows aren’t crazy nor should they be

I hate to be a bother but could you possibly put Hymns and other releases on tape or vinyl? I'd buy that in a heartbeat :)

hey thanks! i’m sorry though but i’m not sure if that’ll happen anytime. since we’re broken up and working on other projects it just makes more sense to focus our time & energy on those. maybe if someone wants to scoop them up and release them it’ll happen.

ah don’t worry i don’t mind at all, unfortunately though i don’t make tabs of any of my songs & i don’t have one for the intro to library. it’s arpeggios loosely based around gmaj7, dmaj, f#min, bmin7 & a7.

ill get the chord formations if it’ll let me format it here

i hope that works (and helps if so) the last chord the “8/7” part is because the 8 (g) is the 7th to a & it’s that little riff at the very end it goes from 8 to 7 ahhh im bad with tabs i hope this helps at all

thanks! i can’t speak for alec & eric (whose tastes are both more punk oriented than mine) or caroline (though i think we fall more in the same places with it) but it was generally a lot of roy orbison, the unicorns, skeeter davis (As stated before), motown/doo wop groups in general - anything that caught our ear (eric & i both love it), dead milkmen, slint, miguel (miguel was one of the biggest influences), waka, gucci, kendrick lamar, definitely danny brown, weezer’s first two albums (duh) + the rentals, the microphones/mount eerie, parenthetical girls, shannon & the clams, rustie, tnght/hudmo/lunice, definitely kanye (always kanye), uhhh rustie again just to stress his importance, obviously coma cinema & attic abasement. perfume genius, gem club, mutual benefit, holy spirits (before they broke up though we listen to them to this day obviously), everything will oldham has done but particularly his early palace music/palace brothers/palace albums, angel olsen (creator/destroyer was a constant while we traveled but when her last album came out we played it to death), pill friends (duh), frankie valli, lil texas, sam cooke, beat happening, alex g (duh), lil wayne, laurel/cotton candy collective, duster, the memories definitely (kiss me was our april anthem when traveling), witch gardens, blink 182, the blow, mnwa, hank williams, das racist but particularly heems’ solo mixtapes after, magnetic fields, usher, ten in the swear jar/xiu xiu (influence is way apparent probably on the waste yrself solo stuff), toro y moi, mountain man (the folk one, not the loud one), why?, brave little abacus, a bunch of other stuff im sure & most importantly lil ugly mane
